This workshop will be structured as a technique class followed by 3 hours of improvisation practice.
Technique: 10:30am – 12:30pm (2 hours), $15 Drop-in class
Improvisation: 1:00pm to 4:00pm (3 hours), (All levels) $35 Drop-in class

Sánchez Ruíz‘s class features an investigation in release technique for the last ten years. Focusing on the importance of being grounded, dancers work with initiation and arrival, visceral and organic movement. The technique training is about understanding the shifting of weight, clarity of movement, attention to detail, precision and dynamics in a multidirectional approach.
Improvisation sessions are an opportunity to fully engage in our own creative practices. Students will learn how to redirect tools and knowledge to investigate and discover new modes of moving and performing which are both exciting and challenging. We will research in how to spontaneously and creatively respond to these tools as an individual, but also in a partnering or group setting.
Sánchez Ruíz teaches and trains dancers for: technical functionality, creative instinct, high performance, and transformation.
