Simard Bilodeau is thrilled to present Kathryn MacNaughton first solo exhibition with the gallery titled Current Reflections. MacNaughton is a Canadian abstract expressionist artist currently living and working in Portugal.
This series reflects a new step on a familiar path; an advance towards personal truth for MacNaughton. Disciplined in her passion, she paints every day to further her craft and enter new spaces. Her paintings come to life in real time with the flowing and drifting of paint poured directly onto canvas, which she shifts and manipulates with a skillful focus and intuition. Coming from a background as an illustrator, painting allows MacNaughton a more personal expression and an exploration of the freedom in both creating and solving the obstacles that arise on the canvas as the paint wanders with a mind of its own.
