Cuentos Empanizados: Breaded Stories
September: 2nd through September: 30th

Paper has long served as a foundation for creativity, communication, and cultural record. In this exhibition, paper is more than just a surface for drawing, painting, or printmaking; it becomes a vessel for memory and a metaphor for transformation.

The featured artists embed paper within broader multimedia practices to explore complex personal and collective histories, many of them drawing from familial narratives. Their creative practices honor personal histories while reimagining them and transforming them through the acts of making. The physical qualities of paper, its vulnerability, resilience, and impermanence, mirror the themes these artists engage with: spirituality, labor, struggle, and the ongoing search for identity and belonging.

Past is prologue. This exhibition asks: How do we invoke the weight and wisdom of the past to root ourselves in the present? Through their work, these artists offer paper not just as a material, but as a living archive where personal history and cultural memory converge.

The phrase Cuentos Empanizados evokes the act of elevating the everyday and transforming the simple into something more layered and expressive.
