Nikolas Soren Goodich brings an expanded version of the TED Talk he delivered at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Media Lab in 2022. He will share vital lessons on healing that he’s learned over a decade in recovery from a 13-year methamphetamine addiction that resulted in him being homeless, living on the streets of Los Angeles for a year. He examines how these lessons apply both to individuals and to building stronger communities, and how his studio practice of painting and mono-printing onto layers of glass has evolved into a vision for a solar powered luminous glass architectural form for socially engaged public art, including his ambitious Monroe Park Luminous Community Center project, currently being proposed for the heart of Richmond.
