The two-day Business for Artists Conference will be held Friday, October 21, and Saturday, October 22, 2022.
Friday’s programming is for non-profit professionals’ development with experts on non-profit marketing, budgeting, program, and fundraising.
Saturday’s programming is for artists working in visual arts, music, or film. The workshops are designed for every level of creative professionals whether it is to get their foot into the field, or a mid-career artist that is looking to be more in tune with the world of social media and digital marketing, the Business for Artists Conference is the perfect opportunity to learn valuable skills and expand your creative network. Workshops options will focus on the development of practical business and career skills for artists, featuring local speakers from the Los Angeles area and beyond. Our speakers come from a diverse set of backgrounds and arts disciplines representing the talent of arts and entertainment. Artists, creatives, and arts non-profit professionals the 2022 Business for Artists Conference will serve as amazing learning and networking opportunity to take your career to the take level.
Admission includes a continental breakfast and lunch. Space is limited. Check-in begins at 8:30 AM. Saturday’s program will have three sessions with three different workshops per session, covering business, career, and professional development topics for various arts disciplines.

Friday, October 21, 2022, will be featuring speakers from a few local non-profits.
Session A: “Planning a Creative Crowdfunding Campaign” with Heidi Luerra, CEO and Founder of RAW artists.
Session B: “The Business of the Arts Non-Profit in the 21st Century” with Dr. Joshua R. Wentz, who serves as Artistic & Executive Director of Mission Opera and Mission Orchestra.
Session C: “Setting Fire to your Reputation: My role in risk-taking during the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad” with Peter Tyas, who is the Executive director for Studio Channel Islands Art Center

1. “Building a Creative Business Plan” with Heidi Luerra, CEO and Founder of RAW artists..
2. “How to Use Crowdfunding to Market your Dream Project” with Alexsiya Flora, an independent female filmmaker, and producer.
3. “DIY Yourself to Your Future” with Max Presneill, the Head Curator of the Torrance Art Museum.

1. “How to stand out as an artist amongst the crowd” with Frederick Thornton (Writer/Director) a Spirit Award-nominated and Gotham Award-winning Filmmaker.
2. “Post-COVID Recovery Strategies for Artists” with Dr. Joshua R. Wentz, who serves as Artistic & Executive Director of Mission Opera and Mission Orchestra.
3. “How to Find Distribution for your Indie Film!” with Liz Manashil, who recently published a landmark series of interviews with distributors: Distributors Fact Sheet and has supported The Film Collaborative’s Distributor report card.

1. “Thinking Creatively: Entrepreneurship and Education in the Arts” with Professor Kellie Cunningham, an Instructor of Piano Pedagogy, Group Piano, and Collaborative Piano at The Master’s University.
2. “10 Ways You Can Grow Your Art Business” with K Ryan Henisey, President of TAG Gallery in Los Angeles and the Founder & CEO of Artlounge Collective.
3. “Pathways for art that doesn’t match anyone’s couch.” with award-winning artist Pam Douglas.
