Sex, secrets, shame. Identity and connection. Kayla Tange explores these in Boundaries, her new multidisciplinary performance piece, at Highways Performance Space, July 28 and 29, 2017..
Kayla Tange’s desire to connect with people and her fascination with admission have inspired provocative and interactive performances around themes that are common to us all – sex, shame, secrets, identity and connection. In Boundaries, the audience’s true anonymous stories are collected as they are told. The life of each audience member becomes a vital element in an immersive narrative – combining movement, constraint, live music and multi-media elements – where art and life no longer imitate each other, but are unified right before our eyes.
Boundaries is a collaboration between Kayla Tange, cellist Ro Rowan, sign language interpreter Caroline Blaike, and tango practitioners Gabriel Magni and Romina Rodriguez-Crosta.
The evening begins with a performance of original songs by multidisciplinary musician and artist, Daniel Crook, who focuses on gender, identity and personhood in his work.
