Join us in the garden to celebrate emerging artists and view the original books they produced during the spring 2023 term of ArtCenter’s Graduate Art course Artist’s Book Workshop IV taught by artist and educator Gabrielle Jennings. During the workshop, these artists engaged in making an exciting variety of books and zines employing different formal and aesthetic strategies to explore a range of subject matter, material and form. Attendance is free; however, reservations are recommended.
ArtCenter’s Graduate Art course Artist’s Book Workshop IV
Artists’ books, zines, and related printed ephemera function as stand-alone works, are often published in conjunction with an exhibition, and are an important part of many artists’ practices. Artist’s Book Workshop examines book form in relation to content, different modes of address, artist’s book collections, archives, and histories, and presents methods and opportunities for making and disseminating. In addition to engaging with collections and experts in the field, works in progress are critiqued, and support is provided for all phases of production of at least one book/zine edition.
Gabrielle Jennings is a Los Angeles artist, writer and educator. She has been faculty in the Graduate Art program at ArtCenter College of Design for over 25 years and edited a collection of essays for University of California Press: Abstract Video: The Moving Image in Contemporary Art.
