“Blooming Bodies”
The late Simone de Beauvoir once said, “One is not born, but rather becomes a woman.”
As we all know it is the journey that shapes us into who we are today. Those hours, days, months, and years together with all their joy and sadness, hope and despair, hurt and overcoming, those and no other sow the quilt of our life.
As we plunge into the arts, we know that art doesn’t provide us with definitive answers, but it does give us a myriad of questions to go deeper in our search.
Perhaps it is because of this that an artist decides to take the plunge into the inner dwellings of the human experience.
It seems to me that a blank canvas gives Patricia Silvia Ibañez the appropriate field to paint her metaphors about a woman’s journey, her beginnings, her dreams, her disappointments, her healing, her renaissance, and finally her blooming.
“Blooming bodies” is the culmination of a journey that began several years ago with “Severed Bodies” and “Sutured Bodies”. A long rough road of pain and healing that through a metamorphosis now becomes “Blooming Bodies.”
Patricia Silvia Ibañez brings to life Beauvior’s phrase giving meaning to a myriad of silent journeys from the world over.
Hers is a work that not only affirms womanhood but cherishes it!
