Nov. 9 – Dec. 15

Los Angeles Filmforum members and UCLA students receive free admission at the box office!

In a career spanning 50 years, filmmaker Barbara Hammer has continually broken new ground through her ecstatic, visually inventive and highly personal exploration of lesbian identity. She joins us this Friday and Saturday for the opening weekend of our retrospective, Barbara Hammer, Superdyke, featuring new film restorations and prints from our co-presenter, the Academy Film Archive!

This Friday and Saturday only, Barbara Hammer will sign copies of her books Hammer! Making Movies Out of Sex and Life, Truant: Photographs 1970-1979, and Evidentiary Bodies in the lobby beginning at 6:30 p.m., and join us for a Q&A after each screening.

Saturday, Nov. 10 – 7:30 p.m.
Barbara Hammer: Prismatic Autobiography

Lustrous not only in their shimmering hues but in their ecstatic, deeply emotional, and highly personal narratives, these three works evoke an artist’s active attempts to define herself and self-compose a herstory leaving indelible marks on lesbian feminist cinema in the process. Hammer in person!

– “X” (1973)
– Stress Scars and Pleasure Wrinkles (1976)
– Tender Fictions (1995)
