Join us for refreshments and hear artist Noa Yekutieli discuss her process and approach to art making. She recently relocated from Tel Aviv to Los Angeles and Pedestal is her first solo exhibition in the United States.
Yekutieli’s installation of paper ghosts and contemporary archeology contextualizes histories of events, people, and artifacts. Like the Greek sculptures that top off her cut paper works, her works reach back in time to unknowable narratives.
In her L.A. Times Datebook blog, Carolina Miranda writes, “An artist deconstructing the pedestal might seem like a cliché. But Yekutieli makes the topic seem fresh in a one-person exhibition that explores the material and arquitectonic nature of pedestals, pulling them to bits, as well as dismantling the figures that often reside on their surface.”
Exhibition will be viewable before and after the talk.
