Canogar will be presenting his series Surge at Minnesota Street Project (1275 Minnesota St.), opening this coming 17 January. The exhibition comprises LED sculptures which explore how, despite its apparent invisibility, data are inextricably mingled with the physical world, conditioning the economy and society itself. Indeed, it is this intangible quality of Big Data that hampers a proper understanding of how the datasphere is having such a strong impact on our day-to-day lives. In this way Surge is Canogar’s endeavour to materialize this complex system which is shaping our lives.
Tying in with the exhibition, Daniel Canogar will be giving an Artist Talk at the 108 gallery at 5:00 pm on Saturday 18 January which will give the audience and artworld agents a better insight into his practice. The talk is also included within the Minnesota Street Project program, which seeks to strengthen the interconnections of San Francisco’s contemporary art world in the short term, widening the scope of spaces for the diffusion and promotion of the visual arts.
