ARCANE Space and the emerging art collective, Stone/Age coalesce their strengths and artistic vision to co-curate Boulders, an exhibition built from a growing network of diverse artists whose close relationships, despite geographical distances, have built an authentic connection through camaraderie, mentorship and collective growth.

Boulders runs May 16 – June 1st with the opening reception on May 16, Friday, from 6 – 9 PM at ARCANE Space, 324 Sunset Ave., Venice.

Boulders is an entry point into a vigorous wave of talent from across the country — Los Angeles to Montana to New York City, artists whose practices are entwined as their careers rise in tandem.

Now as digital isolation and division permeate our daily lives, Boulders returns to the foundational impulse to gather, share, and shape a movement together. The selection of artwork includes ceramics, paintings, assemblage and sculpture from artists such as Haylie Jimenez, Jeremy Mcbrian, Sachi Moskowitz, TINO, Holden Fuller, Kai Sugiyama, and Drew Dominick. From late night conversation, studio visits, and sharing of studio spaces, to the production of exhibitions and
art works, the artists of Boulders have been carefully selected to represent
a diverse expression of artistic messaging through content and context of mediums and compositions. Themes explored include surveillance, nature and wildfire, alienation, self-reflection, repose and more.
With this show ARCANE Space and Stone/Age foster genuine relationships between artists and support the growth of something larger than the individual: a community built stone by stone.

About Stone/Age:
Founded in 2022, the collective Stone/Age was formed with the recognition that working in combined efforts is more effective than singular action. Co-founded by artist Holden Fuller upon the self-publication of his first catalogue of artworks, Fuller recognized that such endeavors were better executed, and more fun, taken on as a group. Having met, and connecting deeply with fellow artists, Dillan Conniff, EM Graff, Kai Sugiyama, and Dominick Vanderlip, the group formed Stone/Age, an artist’s collective that would work together in publishing art books, zines, mounting exhibitions, and building a supportive community to carry out these endeavors.

ARCANE SPACE, in Venice Beach was co-founded in 2017 by dance and visual artist Morleigh Steinberg, and music artist, Frally Hynes. Dedicated to showcasing thought-provoking works by emerging and established artists of all disciplines, ARCANE Space is committed to supporting artists and creating community through the arts. The curation aims to transform and reshape the way art, story, and space is experienced. A portion of proceeds from art sales benefits local charities.
