Renowned street artist Teachr (Keith Biele) will display his work and highlight the art work of 16 Fairfax High School students he has mentored, on Friday, May 25th from 4-10 PM. The art show will take place at Flux Rebellion (7763 Melrose Avenue), who generously donated their space to allow the students to sell their pieces and keep 100% of the income while learning the business of art and harnessing their creative energy in a positive way. Entry is free and guests will enjoy incredible artwork, musical performances by JP Cali Smoov, and video demonstrations of Teachr ‘teaching’ his famous stencil method. The first 100 guests will receive a gift of a print representing his work.
Teachr states, “The purpose of this show is to give students a real-life art show experience instead of making them compete in an art contest. I’m hoping to give the students a chance to meet real buyers, make a sale, and I want to encourage other artists to implement similar endeavors in high schools in their respective communities” This is the second year he has conducted workshops and mentoring programs at Fairfax High.
A former studio artist, Teachr took to the streets to protest education budget cuts through his art. His tagline is “TEACH PEACE.” He has been hailed by Complex as one of Los Angeles’ Top Ten Graffiti Artists and his art has hung in numerous prestigious locations including the Pentagon.
