Andrew Bablo (Beverly, MA) and Helen Popinchalk (Boston, MA) are teaming up for a full gallery restoration of a long-lost atomic era soda fountain from Nevada called, Yucca Fountain. Mark your calendars for opening night on September 19th from 4-9pm as Bablo and Popinchalk bring the Fountain back to life inside of Campus Commons Gallery (1051 22nd Street). Yucca Fountain will be fully functional again based on drawings, documents, furniture and relics saved from the original structure. The celebration will feature food and beverage straight from Yucca Fountain!

The artists say, “For us, Yucca Fountain has emerged as a tantalizing but incomplete puzzle, a sweet and delicious myth of epic proportions with hints of conspiracy and cover up sprinkled on top. Our installation strives to shine a light on this strange place that could only have existed in the atomic badlands of the American west. What does the parable of Yucca Fountain tell us about our nuclear past? How does it relate to our current relationship with atomic power in all its forms? This examination of the past may help inform our future.”

This event is FREE and open to the public.
