Dirk Braeckman

by | May 18, 2016

Dirk Braeckman’s photographs celebrate the passing moment. Images that we are all too familiar with yet often take for granted, are laid bare in exquisite and ethereal shades of gray whereby a single tree set into the landscape explodes with a glowing internal evanescence. Experimenting with shifting tonalities of the common grayscale within the scope of the darkroom, Braeckman transforms his subjects and the viewer’s relationship with them, creating singularly charged and hauntingly enigmatic moments in space and time. Highlights include a young woman’s impossibly long legs. The image gives a nod to high fashion, yet much more subtle and seductive.
