In the tradition of the famous and innovative Light and Space artists working in Los Angeles in the 1960s, Carrie Seid fashions beautiful sculptural works that, like her predecessors, celebrate light in all its luminous vicissitudes. For Seid, optics can be an inspiration wherein shapes appear to reveal themselves slowly, through a haze of intensely integrated materials including silk, aluminum, mylar and acrylic. The works are not content driven, but are purely activated by light, space and color. Also on view are the kitsch sculptures of Bruce Houston if you want to be seriously amused.
