Solo show by Raphaele Cohen-Bacry
This is an opportunity to see over 30 large format paintings (about 62×62″) displayed in 24 cases, and witness the artist’s evolution while walking through the vast two wings of the building. In some of the displays, recent collages by the artist will also be exhibited.
Raphaele has been working on large formats for many years, revisiting and channeling the French movement of “Lyrical Abstraction”. Her paintings are indeed uplifting and appealing to the viewers’ emotions and feelings. Each painting is developed layer after layer, and is built on strong foundations. Even though these were made over a decade, they belong to the same ever evolving series. Some were inspired from the movie “Full Metal Jacket” and it will be interesting to see if you can guess which ones they are.
As a tribute to the arts of Middle Ages that she studied extensively, Raphaele is presenting her paintings “off the stretchers”, like tapestries. The paintings that are shown here are a testimony of spiritual growth and coming to terms with reality.
