Lux Art Institute is celebrating the environment this year by Taking Action! Through it’s annual Creative Nights Event, Lux will host art installations, performances, panel discussion, activities for kids and adults, and live entertainment from 4pm until 10pm on April 25, 2020. The event will move beyond awareness and focus on ways that visitors can take action toward building a sustainable environment. In partnership with the Earth Day Network, Lux will be recognized as one of the primary Earth Day events throughout the county.
Taking Action: Art & the Environment will be 100% powered by Lux’s new solar array. Lux will be working with Solana Center to make this a zero waste event with recycled materials and food composted after the event. Join terrarium-making activities using recycled plastic bottles, and take environmental and art tours of Lux’s six-acre campus to learn about the diverse plants and animals that inhabit our coastal landscape as well as visit our sculpture path and current exhibitions.
In collaboration with REI, a camp and smores station will provide an opportunity to learn about the environment and inspire, educate and outfit for a lifetime of outdoor adventure and stewardship. Drinks will be provided by Topo Chico, Bambucha Kambucha, and Tito’s Vodka. This event is brought to our community, in part, through the support of the County of San Diego’s Community Enhancement Program.
