Dakar, SENEGAL — The Museum of Black Civilizations (MCN) is pleased to announce the celebration of its first anniversary from December 6th to 21st 2019.
The national and international press is invited to a press conference scheduled on December 6th, 2019 at 3:30 pm, in the MCN auditorium.
The press conference will be followed by a guided visit for the press upon request before the opening of the exhibitions at 6 pm, and a concert on the MCN plaza at 9 pm.
Under the title Mutations, the anniversary is structured by a series of exhibitions and programs that explore contemporary dynamics unfolding on the continent.
The pan-African itinerary exhibition Prête-moi ton rêve, initiated by the Casablanca-based Foundation for the Development of Contemporary African Culture, will make its first debut in Dakar.
Hommages, an exhibition of the Barbier Donation to the Eiffage collection will present a glimpse of Senegalese productions through generations representative of L’Ecole de Dakar. Fent Bokk (collective creation), a partnership with the Theodore Monod Museum, presents works by contemporary Senegalese artists.
The exhibitions will be accompanied by a series of panel discussions on December 7th, 16th and 21st, 2019 with inaugural lectures by Professors Yacouba Konaté (F. Houphouet-Boigny University, Abidjan), Mamadou Diouf (Columbia University, New York) and Souleymane Bachir Diagne (Columbia University, New York).
