The Salon, owned by acclaimed casting director John Papsidera and producer Valoree Papsidera, welcomes Belfast artist Ted Pim in his premiere U.S. exhibition, Empire Lines. Having received a swift and warm welcome from international collectors and markets, Pim caught the attention of avid collector John Papsidera. The two struck up an immediate kinship and quickly realized that Pim’s work was exactly the right fit for Papsidera’s cutting edge and innovative Culver City space.

Pim is a lifelong artist who only in recent years began to sell and show his paintings. Heavily influenced by growing up in a poverty-stricken area of Western Europe, he became transfixed by the paradoxical – the gold, gild and grandeur as witnessed at Church or Museums – and a fascination ensued with the contradictions around him. Stylistically, Pim’s work lies between Baroque and Classical and it carries a very prominent sense of traditional discipline. Pim’s rich, perfectly executed oil textures mesh with the subject matter to create a simultaneous depiction of beauty and darkness, the pristine and the haunted.
