LOS ANGELES, CA – August 13, 2019 – Now in its 10th year, Classic Photographs Los Angeles has established itself as the premiere West Coast destination for discovering and buying the best in vintage, modern and contemporary photography. This year’s fair, Classic Photography Los Angeles 2019, will take place at Bergamot Station Arts Center in Santa Monica, California, the first full weekend of September. Admission is free. Over a dozen galleries from North America, Paris, and Shanghai are participating at this year’s fair, which will run from Friday, September 6 through Sunday, September 8, 2019. Participating galleries and exhibitors at each Classic Photographs Los Angeles (CPLA) fair are internationally known for the quality of work they present, as well as their expertise. Works span the history of photography and are selected and priced for beginning to advanced collectors. The open camaraderie between exhibitors, collectors, curators, educators and students, all part of a vibrant community of photo enthusiasts, is welcoming to all. The three-day preeminent photography fair will open on Friday, September 6 with an Opening Night Preview & Reception from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. On Saturday, September 7, the fair will run from 11:00am to 7:00pm, and on Sunday, September 8, from 11:00am to 5:00pm. The fair will be held at the B7 Bergamot Station at 2525 Michigan Avenue, Santa Monica 90404, located at the north eastern end of the Bergamot complex. Classic Photographs Los Angeles (CPLA) –
Classic Photographs Los Angeles has repeatedly demonstrated a reputation for excellence within the photography community. Through their diverse inventories the show’s veteran dealers exemplify what is best about the wide-ranging photographic medium: experience, expertise and connoisseurship. Visitors to CPLA can expect to see masterworks by West Coast photographers working in the f/64 tradition, American work from the 1970s, contemporary artists exploring alternative processes, 20th Century Latin American and Japanese photographers, work from the 19th century, as well as young European-based photographers making their debut in Southern California. CPLA History –
Classic Photographs Los Angeles began in 2010 when a small group of leading galleries and photography dealers, looking for an alternative to oversized art fairs, organized an intimate photography show at the Michael Dawson Gallery in Los Angeles. The following year, three of the original participants, Michael Dawson, Amanda Doenitz and Richard Moore formed Classic Photographs LLC and expanded the size and scope of the show, with emphasis on quality of work and expertise of exhibitors.
