With an opening reception on August 3rd at 7 pm, “Power House” is an all female art exhibition featuring new work by: Sarah Svetlana, Leah Perrino, Kymm Swank, Theodosia Marchant, Rebecca Montoya, Drica Lobo, Irina Vladi, Amelia McRae, Emerald Padgett, and Patti Astor. Many of the works are topographical interpretations of living forms, while others explore the process of movement and abstraction in a variety of media.
Each artist in “Power House” explores the construction of space in a different way, each articulating a position of power in space through brushstrokes, color, and the process of layering—this exhibit will examine the different stages of life and careers of these female artists.
Theodosia Marchant’s work surveys the relationship between objects in the absence of depth, while Kymm Swank addresses the shift of spatial relationships in figural bursts of color, and Sarah Svetlana examines the power of hectic movement and her own ownership of space.
