Hushi’s California Silk Road Bazaar is an extension of his Silk Road Super, “an online bazaar supermarket of art, fashion, nostalgia, and pop inspired by a 21st century Silk Road, exchanging culture inspired by Iran, the east, the west.”
An immigrant born in Tehran, growing up in the suburban malls of California, and graduating from the discotheques of NYC, Hushi is a fashion designer, visual artist, and graphic designer. He employs a variety of mediums and traditional and modern textile hand techniques from both east and west for his unique creations that have been worn by the likes of Brad Pitt in the motion picture Fight Club, as well as by Sarah Jessica Parker in the TV Show Sex and the City. His work has been featured in many publications including Italian Vogue, British Vogue, Huffington Post, W magazine, ID, and Harper’s Bazaar. He has been exhibiting his work across the US, Europe and Iran since 1990’s and is working on several upcoming shows for 2019.
Art Salon Chinatown, a program series of solo exhibitions and accompanying artist talks is presented by The Ministry of Culture, and is organized by curators Sonia Mak and Shervin Shahbazi. The salon takes place at Realm, located in Los Angeles Chinatown’s historic Central Plaza, with the primary focus of showcasing contemporary Chinese American and Asian American artists.
