Richard Tuttle said “There are artists who know from the bottom of their souls that art is about the experience of reality. The reason we have art is because you can’t get a real experience from the world.” David McDonald, whose most recent curatorial effort is on view at Carter & Citizen gallery, understands this phenomena implicitly, having created a precisely imagined and gloriously innovative viewing experience, one which clarifies McDonald’s vision as both curator and artist alike. The exhibition is both a celebration of form and ephemeral longing as though each of these discreet objects were vibrating from the inside out, whispering some secret equation of life. Bravo!
