“MY GREATEST AND MOST ENJOYABLE INTERESTS”
Christopher Cook, a man who has been deaf and blind since childhood, is a prolific visual artist. Drawing from a mixture of memory and imagination, Chris uses clay, papier mache, and found objects to recreate the visible world around him into something that can be touched and felt. He delights in representing everything from a tropical island luau scene to a captain’s ship wheel to a sprawling table top cityscape.
Alongside his visual artwork, Chris will present personal essays and poetry, in print and in Braille. During the opening reception, the deaf and blind artist will give a speech.
This is the first exhibition of Chris Cook’s work. It is produced by Alexa Meade, Lilia George, Laura Peters, and David Shook.
Opening reception Saturday October 6, 2pm-8pm
