On Saturday August 11th, FUTRA sets into motion KINETIC, a two-day multimedia event featuring 40 visual artists, performers, and musicians at the JASON VASS GALLERY in the Arts District of DTLA.
KINETICS is movement. It is a symptom of life embedded in the grammar of our humanity, our constantly evolving nature and expression. Kinetic Art shocks the unflinching static of traditional forms by breaking into a radical new dimension…time. Through concepts of motion, or virtual and apparent movement, it defibrillates art by rousing life into the medium.
Join us and propel into the KINETIC revolution – where we present, rather than represent, our own living reality. David Glicksman & Moses Journey premiere pure animation in a gravity-defying interplay of steel spheres and ethereal projections. Sultry slink and wild rebelliousness pulses through Charlie Le Mindu’s magnetic performances featuring his coiffure’d pièces de résistance. Spurred by the agility of Ty Wells, Jason Snell’s motion-sensor data empowers the human body as an omnipotent vehicle for rumbling and beautifully
thunderous sounds. Sheer stuccattos, meditative tensions, and moments of suspension liberate time and space in Kadet Kuhne’s lenticular and digital pairings. Ania Catherine shifts to shatter social choreography with rousing red carpet immersions. Joseph Salerno’s oscillating concrete forms, Jhovany Quiroz’s exploding topographies, and a striking cascade of kinetic pieces are featured alongside the driving sounds and layered sinusoidal waves of DJs John Tejada and Andrew Kelley.
