“Pop Macabre”, conceived by Thyrza Segal & Nikki Virbitsky, is a surreal vision of people, places and things using photography, embroidery and 3D lenticular collages.

Thyrza Segal is a Vancouver and Joshua Tree based artist that spent 15 years creating and designing costumes for theatre, film and TV. Even though she stopped working in that industry ten years ago, she continues to use story to create narratives for her quirky art. She prefers the viewer to make up the back story but if you ask, she will tell you what is going on in any given image.

Nikki Virbitsky is a mixed media artist from Philadelphia, who recently relocated to Palm Springs for new inspirations. She was once described as a hip version of a grandmother, & on another occasion, as a subversive Martha Stewart.
Her embroideries and paintings explore the remains of pop culture juxtaposed with antique elements, & is a mix of syrupy sweet & deviously eerie. She also creates hand dyed & hand spun yarns, used by fiber artists across the globe.
Nikki attended Keystone College & The Hussian School of Art. She is an art educator, & was a 12 year faculty member at the nations first free art school, The Fleisher Art Memorial in Philadelphia.
