Michael Kohn Gallery presents String Theory, an exhibition of paintings Charles Arnoldi made between 2016 and 2019. At 80, Arnoldi is the elder statesman of West Coast painting, with more than 55 years of exhibitions worldwide. In this series, fluid, automatic-drawing lines are layered across the canvas, using its edges as guard rails, and the shapes that emerge at their intersections are filled with color, arriving at a delicate balance of form and gesture.

On view October 3 to December 19, 2026. Gallery hours: Tuesday to Friday, 10 am to 6 pm; Saturday, 11 am to 6 pm.
