Tierra del Sol Gallery presents Michael LeVell: Salient Forms, the most comprehensive survey of the artist’s five decades of artmaking. A founding artist of Tierra del Sol’s Art Studios program, launched in 1989, LeVell has produced more than 5,000 works across 37 years, including sketches, still lifes, interior studies, landscapes, ceramics, vases, and small ceramic furniture.
The exhibition highlights LeVell’s command of multiple mediums and a practice shaped in part by his experience of being legally blind. His intimate rendering of detail compels slow looking, revealing the distinctly emotive quality of his work and a dimensional poetics grounded in family, place, touch, and creativity.
Organized by Tierra del Sol Gallery Director Paige Wery and independent curator jill moniz, Salient Forms is accompanied by a full-color catalog.
