What if,
the universe begins as vibration?
In string theory, the fundamental constituents of reality are imagined as tiny vibrating strings, with different modes of vibration giving rise to different particles and forms of matter.
On Tuesday, August 18, a poco art invites you to Breath-String, an intimate evening of violin and guitar with Taro Wayama and David Lee Ruest.
Two stringed instruments move across centuries of music. The program travels from Telemann, Fiocco, Massenet, and Monti to John Williams, Astor Piazzolla, and original compositions by Taro Wayama.
Vibration passes from string to air, from body to body, and into the space around us, entering into dialogue with works by Tia Xia and Nancy Ivanhoe throughout the exhibition space.
Perhaps music is one of the simplest ways to experience an idea that string theory proposes: that different forms may emerge from different modes of vibration, and that a shift in frequency can give rise to an entirely different world.
