Keystone Art Space is pleased to present Interwoven, a two-person exhibition featuring new work by Sara Marlowe Hall and Marleigh Culver. Bringing together two distinct abstract practices, the exhibition explores the intersections of materiality, process, and abstraction through works that engage in a quiet visual dialogue.
Installed with the artists’ works in conversation, Interwoven reveals moments of resonance between two independent practices. Through layered surfaces, gesture, texture, and an intuitive approach to painting, the exhibition considers how abstraction can communicate through rhythm, atmosphere, and material presence while maintaining the distinct character of each artist’s work.
Following her recent residency at The Amber Houses on the island of Aegina, Greece, Sara Marlowe Hall presents a selection of paintings and embroidered works informed by the island’s landscape, coastal light, and atmosphere, alongside works completed in her Los Angeles studio. Through painting, sewing, and embroidery, Hall investigates landscape, memory, and materiality, allowing each composition to evolve through layered gestures and tactile surfaces.
Marleigh Culver presents a new body of abstract paintings that explore color, movement, and texture through an intuitive, process-driven approach. Her compositions balance structure with spontaneity, creating richly layered surfaces that invite sustained looking.
Together, Interwoven highlights the dynamic relationship between two distinct artistic voices, offering a thoughtful exploration of abstraction through material experimentation, gesture, and process. The exhibition invites viewers to consider the subtle connections that emerge when independent bodies of work are experienced in dialogue.
