“Under One Roof” is a group exhibition in the Propeller Gallery at Santa Monica Studios 3026 at the Airport Arts Center in the City of Santa Monica. It was recently announced that “Under One Roof” has been extended through Sunday, May 31. Curated by Los Angeles-based art critic, writer and curator Peter Frank, the expansive exhibition features work by 32 artists with studios in the airport complex, spanning multiple disciplines including sculpture, painting, textile, photography, ceramics, prints, and drawing. “Under One Roof” celebrates the almost 25-year legacy of Santa Monica Studios 3026 at the Airport Arts Center, and the vibrant community of creators who have populated and flourished in its studios and galleries in its historic hangar at Santa Monica Airport.
“Under One Roof” runs through May 31, when there will be a festive Closing Reception from 2-5PM. In addition to the main exhibition, activities will include dozens of open studios to explore and connect with the artists and a Silent Auction featuring small works by the resident artists. Each piece in the auction will have a low starting bid, making it accessible for people to start a collection or build on an existing one. An “Under One Roof” exhibition catalog is available in the gallery, located at 3026 Airport Ave., Santa Monica, CA, 90405. Up until closing day, regular gallery hours are 12noon-5PM, Thursday through Sunday
The City of Santa Monica’s Airport Arts Center now houses the largest concentration of artists in Santa Monica, comprising 60 art studios and creative spaces across four airplane hangars and additional buildings. After the city conducted a competitive search, Community Arts Resources (CARS) was selected in 2025 to steward programming for Studios 3026.
The complete list of artists exhibiting in “Under One Roof, in alphabetical order, is:
Melinda Smith Altshuler, M Susan Broussard, Barbara Carrasco, Gregg Chadwick, Claudia Concha, Lola Del Fresno, Alexandra Dillon; Wendy Edlen, Nina Girvetz, Elizabeth Gorcey, Deborah Lynn Irmas, Sara Issakharian, Sheila Karbassian, Annette Miae Kim, Susie McKay Krieser, Sally Lamb, Makala Lee, Luigia Martelloni, Patrizia Martiradonna, Crystal Michaelson, Mobina Nouri, Margaret Oakley, Sabine Pearlman, Elham Sagharchi, Gwen Samuels, Daniela Schweitzer, Pamela Simon, Doni Silver Simons, Julie Weiss, Joan Wulf, Rebecca Youssef, and Leila Youssefi.
Frank says, “Los Angeles brims with artists’ studios, whether in people’s garages of in far-flung industrial spaces. The beehive model, gathering many studios under one roof, suits us particularly well. Studios 3026 has been among the beehive success stories, especially as it serves a part of Los Angeles County otherwise lacking in such spaces.”
