David Zwirner is pleased to announce an exhibition featuring works by Magdalena Suarez Frimkess (b. 1929), which will be organized by Shio Kusaka (b. 1972) and on view at the gallery’s 606 N Western Avenue location in Los Angeles.

Suarez Frimkess has long resided in Venice Beach, California, and is well known for forms that employ familiar iconography, ranging from Mickey Mouse to the Chilean comic-book character Condorito, among other figures and motifs. The Los Angeles–based Kusaka has become known for her playful and open approach to the ceramic medium, as well as her characteristic line work and intuitive sense of color. This presentation will also include collaborative works created together by the two artists.

Join us for the opening reception on Saturday, April 11, from 3 to 6 PM.
