ace/121 Gallery in Glendale opens its 2026 season with a poignant duo show exploring personal and environmental loss and recovery in the aftermath of the Eaton Fire through the work of photographer DeAnn Jennings and conceptual artist Jane Szabo.
Remnants & Renewal: On the Anniversary of the Eaton Fire – on view February 7-March 7 – brings together two artists whose practices respond to climate catastrophe through distinct yet interconnected lenses – one grounded in direct witness and documentation, the other in symbolic reflection on planetary fragility, resilience, and regeneration.
Together, the raw imagery of altered landscapes and objects transformed by the extreme heat captured by Jennings at the intersection of loss and survival alongside Szabo’s hand-crafted papier-mâché globes collaged with map fragments staged as still lifes and presented as framed photographs, create a contemplative dialogue between memory, healing, and hope for renewal that visitors can expect to encounter throughout this moving exhibition.
