Matter Studio Gallery is currently exhibiting phenomenal new artwork from Adeola Davies-Aiyeloja in her first exhibit with our gallery titled LIVING MATTER. Their inclusion marks a vibrant new chapter for the gallery, and I’m excited to introduce their practices to you in this context. In her artist statement she states, “I am a BIPOC artist with a multidisciplinary practice rooted in painting, printmaking, digital collage, and
mixed media. My work moves between non-objective and figurative abstraction, exploring how memory,
energy, and spirit can be translated through color, line, and form. Color plays a central role in creating an
atmospheric presence in my paintings. Layers of warm and cool hues shift with light and movement, revealing subtle transitions and inviting viewers into an evolving visual experience.
Imagery of people, animals, and elements of nature often emerges through shadows, silhouettes, and
intersecting lines. Before I begin each piece, I write positive manifestation words and phrases onto the
blank substrate—intentions that become embedded within the layers, shaping the work’s emotional and
spiritual resonance. Intuitive mark-making guides my process as I seek harmony between the conscious
and unconscious.”
We are also showing important works by long-standing leading artists of the gallery including Susan Feldman, Jora Nelstein, Talita Long, and Craig Wcislo all currently exhibiting in a Group Show titled A MATTER OF GIVING. Exhibiting many affordable works perfect for Holiday Gifting!
