Taylor Fine Art is pleased to announce VIVA MEXICO, a dynamic two-artist exhibition featuring new works by Odile Jacott and Robert Wolfgang Laster on view from December 13–27, 2025. The exhibition opens with a public reception on Saturday, December 13, from 7 PM to 10 PM.

VIVA MEXICO brings together two distinct yet complementary artistic voices whose work engages with identity, symbolism, cultural narrative, and contemporary portraiture. Through divergent visual languages—one theatrical and dreamlike and the other vividly graphic and urban — Jacott and Laster explore the multidimensionality of Mexican influence, heritage, and aesthetics.

Odile Jacott’s painting introduces a striking, metaphor-rich character staged between lush red curtains, crowned with an emblem of self-mythology. With theatrical lighting, surreal accents, and expressive detail, Jacott constructs a narrative tableau that feels at once classical and contemporary. The result is a portrait that operates like a scene from an unwritten play—evoking identity, ritual, and symbolic performance.

Robert Wolfgang Laster’s work presents bold, stylized portraiture informed by pop culture, street iconography, and emotional storytelling. His featured piece portrays a young figure marked by tattoos and visual fragments of personal history, set against a glowing modern cityscape. The work is both intimate and cinematic, inviting viewers to consider the shaping forces of environment, expression, and self-definition.

Together, Jacott and Laster create a visual conversation about personal and cultural iconography. VIVA MEXICO honors the expansive ways in which artists interpret lineage, challenge boundaries, and build their own myths.
