TAYLOR FINE ART is pleased to announce “A Refuge of Being,” a solo exhibition of works by Los Angeles–based artist K’era Morgan opening on September 6, 2025 and on view through September 27th.

In A Refuge of Being, Morgan presents a series of abstract, expressive paintings that capture the underlying patterns and energetic forces that shape and connect us all. In this exhibit of mixed media works, her visual language draws from a range of influences: from natural forms such as cellular structures, spider webs, and aerial landscapes to African textiles, Aboriginal art, and, more recently, scarification practices rooted in her ancestral lineage in Equatorial Guinea. The final works are less about mimicking these visual forms and more about channeling their instinctual, rhythmic essence.

Her intuitive approach to art-making results in a profound connection between spirit and creativity. By releasing expectations and trusting her instincts, she creates abstract environments that transport viewers into a contemplative headspace where they reflect on their inner nature and relationship to the world around them.

Her process moves between planning and intuition, balancing raw expression with an underlying sense of order. Embracing the textures and accidents that emerge through the layered creative process allows imperfections to reveal new possibilities and highlight the beauty that can be found in life’s challenges or perceived flaws. The final compositions emerge organically through active engagement with materials and her approach of journaling, research and field studies. Using acrylic, oil stick, pastel, and grease pencil, K’era’s layers bold fields of color with dynamic gestural marks and subtle textural variations. She explores the tension between gesture and structure, layering mediums to create compositions that are both raw and deliberate. The works oscillate between immediacy and restraint, evoking a visual language that is at once deeply personal and universally resonant.
