(San Gabriel, CA) – Artists & Makers Studios is pleased to present the debut of acclaimed photographer Heather C. Morrow’s, Bearing Witness: Fragments of Humanity, a powerful visual exploration of the unimaginable destruction caused by Eaton Fire in Altadena. This deeply personal collection will be the inaugural exhibition at the newly opened Artists & Makers Studios in San Gabriel, with an opening reception on July 12, 2025—just six months after the devastating fires reshaped the community. The Eaton Fire left behind a landscape of loss, its impact felt in the charred remains of homes, the scarred terrain, and the stories of those who endured its wrath. Through Bearing Witness: Fragments of Humanity, Morrow captures the emotional and physical aftermath, offering a poignant reflection on the fragility of place. “This project is my way of honoring Altadena, a community that has been my home for the last 17 years,” says Morrow. “On January 7, 2025, the Eaton Fire, driven by fierce Santa Ana winds, consumed Altadena in a single day. My home and ceramic studio were lost. When I returned, the town was unrecognizable—yet within the ruins, I found a tragic beauty. This photo
project is my way of processing that loss and honoring the fragments of a once-vibrant community.” The exhibition at Artists & Makers Studios in San Gabriel marks a significant milestone—not only as the first show in the new space but as a moment of collective remembrance and healing. Visitors will experience Morrow’s evocative photography, which transforms destruction into a narrative of survival, connection, and hope. Attendees will have the opportunity at the opening reception to engage with the artist, share their own stories, and reflect on the evolving landscape of Altadena. Heather C. Morrow is a photographer recognized for her striking and evocative visual narratives. In 2024, she explored the art of Still Life, transforming everyday objects from her own life into compositions reminiscent of classic oil paintings. Her work is regularly juried into exhibitions across Southern California, with recent shows at LA Maker Gallery and Shoebox Projects in downtown Los Angeles.
