Culver City, CA — Taylor Fine Art presents Simple Minimalist, a striking solo exhibition of photographic works by international award-winning photographer Tom Glassman, on view from June 7 through June 28, 2025. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, June 7 from 7–10 PM at the gallery’s Culver City location.

Glassman began his career as a celebrated Creative Director for leading ad agencies before shifting his lens toward photography. He is best known for stark compositions, meticulous technique, and a bold artistic voice. Tom’s work has been exhibited in galleries nationwide as well as featured in art magazines internationally.

Many of his pieces live on in the private collections of other notable creatives and collectors across the globe. Today, he shares his gifts by teaching as well as producing fine art Giclée gallery prints for other high-calibur artists; at least two of whom worked directly for Ansel Adams.

In an age dominated by Photoshop and AI-enhanced imagery, Glassman’s process is a powerful cultural counterpoint. His camera is his only editing tool — Final compositions are captured at the time of the shutter click. With the exception of initial color correction, there is zero digital post-production involved. Not even cropping.

“Everything about my images is deliberate and time-consuming,” says Glassman.

His commitment to photographic excellence and artistic integrity is as fierce as his wit. When asked why he became a photographer, Glassman credited his wife initially, but was quick to add “fast cars, fast women, fast shutter speeds and high ISO…and the rakish off-shoulder look of a photo vest with elbow patches.”

The rake’s distinctive eye enables him to create camera-captured images that seem born of another medium. “…my primary goal is to try and take a photograph that doesn’t look like a photograph,” says Tom. “This might entail anything from recording unusual reflections or abstract lines and patterns…to creating compositions with extreme negative space.”

Simple Minimalist invites viewers to experience everyday objects and found materials through Glassman’s unique visual perspective. The result is stark. A reflection becomes an abstraction; a household object, a mystery. The mundane transmogrifies; his finished masterpieces move the viewer and evoke a sense of j’aime vu — the sensation of seeing something familiar as though for the first time. The striking, stunning photographs of brilliant contrasting colors and unusual graphic patterns ensure you’ll question exactly what it is you’re looking at.

With wit, rigor, and an unflinching eye, Tom Glassman offers a photographic journey that rewards close attention, challenges perception, and inspires awe of analog photography in a digitally dominated world.
