Jasmine Monsegue: Everything That Glitters
CONTROL Gallery presents Jasmine Monsegue’s first Los Angeles solo exhibition, a contemporary history of Southern African-American life told with softness and delicacy. Through surreal airbrushed imagery on unconventional surfaces like synthetic hair and recycled furniture, Monsegue elevates regional subcultures, intertwining memory, seduction, and spirituality. Her works, featuring pop stars and strippers in otherworldly settings, explore Black spiritual life, sexuality, and femininity with haunting allure and divine power.
