Vanitas presents a series of paintings by Laurie Riccadonna that delve into the intersection of environmental crisis, mortality, and the human condition. The term vanitas comes from the Latin word for vanity and refers to a genre of art that highlights the transient nature of life and the insignificance of material wealth and possessions. Riccadonna’s works offer a deeply personal perspective on the current environmental crisis, reflecting on the degradation of the natural world.
