Photographic Arts Council Los Angeles (PAC LA) is proud to initiate its public events program at Nazraeli Press’s recently opened space at the Reef in Downtown Los Angeles with The Printmaker, The Artist & The Curator: A Collaboration.
Taking place on Saturday, October 5, 2024, from 1:00 to 2:00pm PT, this free event will feature printmaker and publisher Barret Oliver of The ƒ/Ø Project, photographer William Camargo, and Linde Lehtinen, Senior Curator of Photography at The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens, in a public conversation.
The three will be discussing Camargo’s photography series, Origins & Displacements, now part of The Huntington’s permanent collection. Reflecting on their work together, they have much to say about the art and science of collaboration.

Origins & Displacements reveals the hidden history of Camargo’s hometown of Anaheim, California. The photos, produced during the civil unrest and global pandemic of 2020, amplify issues of gentrification and the invisible labor in the city best known for Disneyland, “the happiest place on earth.” Camargo’s work tackles real historical incidents of political injustice while at the same time providing an unvarnished glimpse into the personal domestic spaces rarely captured by mainstream representations of activism.
