Join us for the closing reception of our current exhibitions, Notions of Place and MINGLE MANGLE. At 2:30pm there will be an in-gallery artist talk with the artists of Notions of Place. These events are free and in-person at Angels Gate Cultural Center.
Notions of Place examines the complexity of inhabited spaces, as they create metaphors in exchange between nature and human action. Curated by Lauren Kasmer, Notions of Place includes works by Hilary Baker, Joyce Dallal, Natalie M. Godinez, Kio Griffith, Flora Kao, Lauren Kasmer, LaRissa Rogers, Jenny Yurshansky, and HK Zamani.
The artist talk will feature Notions of Place curator and artist Lauren Kasmer and will include artists Hilary Baker, Joyce Dallal, and Flora Kao. The artists will discuss their work in relation to the show’s themes of place and home, and there will be a chance for audience members to ask questions of their own.
MINGLE MANGLE is curated by FLOOD and features several AGCC Studio Artists responding to the concept of sound intake. These artists work in a variety of media including various printmaking techniques, sculpture, video, assemblage, handmade instruments, built ecosystems, and sound media. The exhibition includes works by Phoebe Barnum, Beth Elliott, Bill Faecke, Bill Jaros, Nguyen Ly, Edmond Maloney, Tim Maxeiner, Lowell Nickel, Ashton S. Phillips, Susan Rawcliffe, and Ann Weber.
