The Irvine Fine Arts Center’s fall exhibitions “In This World” and “Infinite Timeline” open November 12 with public receptions on November 19 from 2-4 p.m.
Presented in the Center’s Main Gallery and Gallery 2, “In This World” centers on the alchemic potential of photographic processes to help reimagine the world, or draw us into its lesser explored corners. The artists whose works feature in the exhibition transform — conceptually and materially — subjects anchored in the everyday into thoughtful, speculative, and imaginative encounters that invigorate the act of viewing with curiosity and sentiment. Participating Artists: Christine Atkinson, Michael Chesler, Lucy Baird Wood, C. Matthew Luther, Katie Shapiro, and Karley Sullivan
Presented in the Center’s Gallery 1, “Infinite Timeline” features sculptural works by Regina Herod and paintings by Alexandra Wiesenfeld that explore the mutability of history and storytelling as they relate to themes of nature, reason, and empire. Herod and Wiesenfeld’s works share a deep consideration of the forces that define our general understanding of the past and a critical attention to the conditions that shape the future.
Reception is free and open to the public; free parking is available in Heritage Park. Both exhibitions are on view November 12, 2022—February 11, 2023.
