Mystical Creatures (2022) is an experimental photo series by photographer Angela Izzo. Izzo created these images over the past five years, capturing muses as archetypical characters in the everyday world, reconnecting ancient and modern realities. Izzo uses custom analog film techniques with non-standard cameras and film stocks to immerse the viewer in dream-like fantasies. The Mystical Creatures series focuses on the Major Arcana and is the first tarot series created by the photographer. Immersive soundtrack score by Rain Lucien Matheke, deck design by Sami Borhanpour and Angela Izzo, set design by Sparky and Angela Izzo.
