Kevin McCants (1966 – Current)
African American Painter, Teacher, Musician. Kevin began his artistic practice at an early age. Following his childhood in Ohio, he studied at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Using panels and canvas, glazing, washes, and other techniques, he focuses on capturing light, reflections, and the essence of fashion as it mirrors social need and disconnect. The images encapsulate aspects of urban consumerism with mannequins that stand-in for more complicated lifestyle aspiration and identity. This solo show will feature new work that is more a personal emergence. New works will be introduced on his website simultaneously with the October exhibit.
