Barnsdall Arts Sundays, a truly unique arts education series, will continue virtually in 2022 with four sessions slated for February. With art lovers from around the world connecting via zoom, Barnsdall Arts Sundays take place every Sunday from 10 am to noon PST and cater to children, adults, and families alike. Each weekly drop-in class is based on the exploration of global culture, featuring a range of artistic mediums from mask and print-making to cave painting and ancient script writing.
Art workshops are designed to incorporate art history, visual art skills, and concepts as well as cultural, geographical, and historical contexts. Upcoming classes for February are Alma Woodsey Thomas-inspired paintings for Black History Month (Feb 6), Valentine’s Day Shaped Poetry Painting (Feb 13), Black History Month Freedom Quilts (Feb 20), and Tibetan New Year Mandala with the Symbols of Buddhism (Feb 27).
Zoom allows for an interactive classroom environment for art lovers globally to connect and they post weekly class projects via Barnsdall Park’s social media @barnsdallpark, along with required materials and zoom access information. All projects are adaptable to simple materials.
