LAUREN KASMER’S MOMENTA COMES ALIVE ON MAY 1 & 2!
A link to the livestream of Momenta will be available at: https://www.laurenkasmersmomenta.com/ where the entire exhibition can also be viewed,
Artist Lauren Kasmer’s virtual solo exhibition Momenta is presented in five movements: Mount, a video; Wardrobe, photographically printed wearables; Equipoise, an installation with activation; Collaboration at a Distance, photography; and Flourish from Fire, stills of the Blind Courier installation (2019).
Throughout her career, Kasmer has integrated process-based methodology, social practice, and community participation in her work. Pre-pandemic, “Equipoise,” the installation segment of “Momenta,” was to be a live event in an apartment bedroom, creating an intimate public environment for the interdisciplinary “happenings” Kasmer creates.
Limited by social distancing, Kasmer reimagined the space as a stage for isolated performers to reach out to a livestream audience. The performers and the production team are friends, artists, and creators who have individually and collectively been part of Kasmer’s past artworks and events.
