GAVLAK is pleased to present Jose Alvarez D.O.P.A.: A Wondrous North Star, from January 23 through February 21, 2021 at the gallery’s Palm Beach location. This new series of works by the artist explores the generativity born out of grieving and loss. Following the loss of his partner James Randi (“The Amazing Randi”) last year, Alvarez envisions this new body of work as an expression of rebirth. The exhibition’s title references the expansive garden the couple maintained for over twenty years. Here, the artist’s interest in the pre-modern and the mythic transforms mourning into restorative world-building.
