There has long been a history of poets and painters collaborating, and in many instances, as was the case with poet Robert Duncan and Jess, sharing their lives together. Michael Duncan’s recent curatorial efforts on view at the Pasadena Museum of California Art have certainly borne a delightful fruit. The show stands as a celebration of the truest collaborative efforts, and the inherent generosity that goes hand in hand with artists coming together and sharing their work—something that I think is lacking these days unfortunately. The show is ultimately an examination of friendship and great abiding love, for the artist’s pioneering spirit and all it entails.
